In the age of the Kindle, iPad, and Nook, book covers are more vexed—and more important—than ever. A panel of four illustrious graphic designers and art directors will discuss their favorite book covers as well as the designs that have shaped their work, explore what makes a great cover great, and explain why book covers still exert such a hold on the popular imagination.
The featured panelists are:
- Irma Boom, Amsterdam-based graphic designer
- Jennifer Daniel, Graphics Director, Bloomberg BusinessWeek
- John Gall , Creative Director, Abrams Books
- Peter Mendelsund, Associate Art Director, Knopf Books; Art Director, Pantheon Books; Art Director, Vertical Press
Moderated by Michael Silverberg, Editor in Chief, Print magazine
Following the program, audience members will be invited to specially designated areas in the Exhibition Hall for book signings and informal conversation with the speakers.
